Opening Day Celebration

          The Detroit Tigers will celebrate Opening Day of the 2022 Baseball Season today with an acoustic performance of the Star Spangled Banner by local musician Jack White of the White Stripes.  At Orion Assembly we had our own musicians during the 90’s and 2000’s referred to as the Locker Room Band (because you could hear them every lunch time in the Chassis Locker Room) they performed at many plant events over the years.  In honor of Opening Day and The Locker Room Band we present their acoustic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. The Aurora Rolls On

                It was March 28, 2003 when the last Oldsmobile Aurora rolled off the Assembly line at Orion Assembly.  During the years from 1994 until 2003 over 208,000 Aurora’s were handcrafted by UAW Local 5960 members and left the facility on their way to customers around the world.  The Aurora, with its Cadillac 4.6L Northstar V8, was the official pace car at the 97 and 2000 Indianapolis 500.  In 1997, the pace car was driven by three-time Indy 500 winner Johnny Rutherford.
            The Aurora was noted for its engine, build quality, ride, and structural integrity. During normal crush-to-failure tests to evaluate body torsional rigidity, the Aurora's unibody construction broke GM's testing machine.   A frame-crusher otherwise used to test stronger truck frames had to be used, with the car twice exceeding federal standards for passenger cars.  Many of these well-built vehicles are still on the road today.  I recently spotted this one in Clarkston, MI. We Got Ourselves a Convoy

Breaker, Breaker 10-4 good buddy; we have a convoy.  Make no mistake these convoy malcontents are the same folks who bring us disruptions on airplanes, threatening messages to store clerks who ask them to mask up and then they fill up our hospitals with sick individuals who refuse to get the Covid vaccine; all in the name of freedom.  Freedom from Education (Science can’t tell me anything) Freedom from religion (Christians don’t act like this and the bible has no passage about parking your eighteen wheeler to block the gainful employment of your fellow humans) and Freedom from the responsibility we all have for the human race (If we don’t pull together and beat this virus, not to mention climate change or the next pandemic) we will surely perish from this stone pathway we call Earth.

These folks need to retreat to their cabin on the edge of town and convince their children to carry on their list of grievances because the rest of us have had enough.  We have all worked with people like this; there is always something wrong; the work is too hard; it’s too hot; it’s too cold; blah blah blah.  If you sat them in a chair and paid them once a week they would complain the chair was too hard. It’s a good thing these folks didn’t have to fight World War II we would be in a world of hurt.

The only ones benefitting from these actions are the carnies hawking hats, t-shirts and freedom flags to these poor conspiracy believing cult followers, who just can’t help themselves but carry water for the likes of Ted Cruz and Fox News.  Reports show that the web sites and internet communication forums informing this flock of numbskulls are coming from other countries.  This convoy rolls in a neighborhood where Network News is “Fake News” but some guy in Vietnam is the gospel.  God help us.
