And so here we are on Memorial Day 2020 locked in a battle
with a microbe that has already taken over 90,000 Americans and destroyed much
of our economy that we built up over the last ten years. The battle still rages but, of soldiers
drafted to engage the enemy, only some will fight.
Thank God the greatest generation (my parent’s bunch) were
the folks responsible to take the battlefield during WWII. Their government called; they answered and as
they say the rest is history. They left
their homes and families, learned to fight and fought for all they were worth. They fought for all of us with no guarantees
they would make it home . . . . and
405,000 of them didn’t.
In this latest battle with the unseen enemy all the government
asked was that people stay home to defeat the adversary and some of our
citizens couldn’t even do that. The best they could muster was to parade in the
capitol with swastikas, confederate flags and contempt for their
government. Their efforts probably
allowed the invisible enemy to infiltrate their ranks and harm others.
Compared to the challenges of other wars; we
have been asked to do very little.
During this Memorial Day pay tribute to our fallen heroes in all wars,
including this one. Remember, when
adversity comes your way, do your part.
Teamwork makes the job easier.
Thanks for listening . . . Tony
